Nurse hugs a young patient at Baptist’s cancer treatment center in Jackson

Leading-Edge Cancer Treatment Center in Jackson, Mississippi

Baptist Cancer Center-Jackson proudly treats more cancer patients than any hospital in the state. Our cancer center brings together in one convenient location all the preventive, diagnostic, treatment, support and follow-up services we offer.

The three-story center is connected to Mississippi Baptist Medical Center's radiation oncology department, inpatient units and the Colonnades Medical Office Building. A designated parking area for the Baptist Cancer Center is readily available near the front entrance.

Top Cancer Care Services from Experienced Specialists

Our physicians are board certified in medical oncology, radiation oncology, gynecologic oncology and hematologic oncology. Additionally, our staff hold a variety of degrees and certifications, including the Oncology Certified Nurse designation. A treatment team meets weekly to discuss cancer patients and their care.

What Does a Nurse Navigator Do?

The center's single point of contact for patients and caregivers are the cancer patient navigators whose purpose is to make it easy for patients and their families to access services and information. The navigator assesses the needs of both patients and caregivers, directs them to appropriate support services, and educates patients and caregivers on any issues related to a patient's diagnosis in addition to many other services.

Patient Orientation

The Baptist Cancer Services staff provides a patient orientation program that gives patients and families a complete overview of cancer treatment, including information about radiation therapy, chemotherapy, nutrition, and other important topics.

The program is offered twice a week:

  • Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

During orientation, each participant receives a handbook containing all the information from the class, along with a personal health manager kit providing resources and other valuable information. A board-certified clinical psychologist with special training in the care of cancer patients provides individual and group counseling free of charge.

Patients may visit Appearances, our apparel and accessories shop. Located on the ground floor of Baptist Cancer Center, it offers a full range of products, including wigs, hats, scarves and skin care products.

Online registration for Cancer Orientation is available up to three days prior to each class. Register for patient orientation at Baptist Cancer Center-Jackson.
