Meet the Doctor

Dr. Raymond Staniunas is a board certified colon and rectal surgeon, providing surgical services at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis and Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto. A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Staniunas has expertise in all aspects of the surgical treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the lower GI tract. He has particular skills in laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic surgery.

What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?

They can expect up-to-date and expert surgical treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum and anus delivered with the utmost care and compassion.

What is the most important factor in a doctor patient relationship and why?

For me it’s taking the time to listen to my patient’s needs and concerns and answering them fully. I want my patients to have a clear understanding of their and my expectations, and the reassurance that they are in good hands.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy when you're not working?

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children, exercising, playing golf, and travel.

What about your line of work do you find the most rewarding?

Using my skills as a surgeon to bring about good outcomes for my patients to help them live happy, healthy lives.
