Meet the Doctor

Dr. Jesse P. Wright is a board- certified colorectal surgeon who treats diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. A Tennessee native, he specializes in minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopy and robotic surgery, TAMIS (transanal minimally invasive surgery), and endoscopy. Dr. Wright's areas of expertise include the management of colon, rectal and anal cancers and has a special interest in the management of complex inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. He is proficient in the treatment of all common and complex anorectal disorders, including hemorrhoids, fissures, fistula in ano, and perianal/perirectal abscesses along with surgery for pelvic floor laxity conditions such as rectal prolapse, rectocele, and incontinence.

What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?

I am an honest, personable and hardworking surgeon, who is thoughtful of patients and their specific needs. I am decisive and thorough in formulating personalized treatment plans and utilize advanced surgical techniques. I respect every patient and take the time to clearly communicate with them and their loved ones.

What is the most important factor in a doctor patient relationship and why?

Trust and open communication with all of my patients. I like to sit down with each patient to understand them and all of their concerns. I will thoroughly talk through each step of their personalized treatment plan. Every patient and their family is unique, and my team is committed to making sure that care is about the individual and their goals from our very first meeting.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy when you're not working?

I am a devoted husband and father to my wife and two small children. We are enjoying exploring our new city of Memphis together. I enjoy traveling, sports, fishing, listening to and playing music.

What about your line of work do you find the most rewarding?

It is an honor to be able to use my surgical skills and expertise to help the patients in our community live happier, healthier lives. I am grateful for all the patients I have met and will meet who continue to make an impact on my life and the work I do.
