Meet the Doctor

Dr. David Engle joined the Baptist Medical Group team in 2019 and specializes in gynecologic oncology. A Mid-South native, he is grateful for the opportunity to care for patients here at home. Dr. Engle sees patients in Tennessee.

What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?

I do my best to evaluate the patient as a whole. Once a diagnosis has been made, my goal is to explain both the condition and treatment options to the patient and family, in a way they can understand. Only after they are comfortable with their treatment choice do we move forward.

What is the most important factor in a doctor patient relationship and why?

Trust. It is imperative as a surgeon and as an oncologist that I have the patient’s confidence.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy when you're not working?

Flying—I am a licensed instrument-rated pilot. Outdoor grilling and smoking is one of my favorite pastimes. I enjoy being in the backyard with family and friends, and competing in BBQ competitions. I’m also a bagpipe musician.

What about your line of work do you find the most rewarding?

I have the opportunity to fight cancer every day. The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families is a special reward.
