Dr. Lindi VanderWalde joined the Baptist Medical Group team in 2013 and sees patients in Memphis, Tennessee.
The initial visit in my office usually takes about two hours. We obtain a thorough history, and I complete a physical exam and review any recent breast mammogram or ultrasound. Additional tests or biopsies may be recommended. Together, you and I review the current diagnosis and determine the best next step in care. If I recommend surgery, I will explain the operation in detail to you; we are usually able to schedule the operation date after your appointment, if no additional tests are recommended.
I am a board-certified surgeon with specialty training, exclusively managing diseases of the breast.
Trust and understanding. I spend a lot of time with my patients explaining the treatment recommendations and what the patient should expect in their care and recovery. Sometimes, we must have difficult conversations, but I hope my honesty and approachability will arm my patients with the tools to handle whatever medical concern crosses their path.
I am a busy mom, and I enjoy learning from my children about their busy days at school. I enjoy cooking and baking, and hosting guests in my home. I love reading fast-paced fiction, and when I have the time, I also like to knit.
Unlike many other surgical specialists, a breast surgeon gets to see her patients for follow-up visits as we continue to monitor the patient's recovery from the operation and establish a regular routine for follow-up mammograms. This continuity has allowed me to establish relationships with my patients and to learn how they and their families are doing months and years after our initial encounter.
